From RATING courses and educating golfers on the RULES of the game; to growing the sport at the GRASS ROOT level and getting golf into our SCHOOL systems; to hosting the best in class amateur CHAMPIONSHIPS…you can believe that the GAO is simply the place for AMATEUR GOLF in Ontario. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM The GAO is guided by a Volunteer Board of Directors who provide Governance, Stewardship and related policies to the association. Volunteers work closely with the GAO staff and are provided with supervision, training and administrative support to assist them in fulfilling their duties as valued members of the GAO team. GAO staff work under the direction of the Executive Director who is responsible for the day to day operations of the GAO. A current list of the GAO Board of Directors, Committee members and Staff contact information can be found on our website under the “Get to Know the GAO” dropdown menu.
VOLUNTEER RESOURCES Volunteer Forms , Policies and Manuals can be found on the GAO website, www.gao.ca. Place your cursor over “Support the GAME” and select Volunteer from the menu, click on Volunteer Resources.
VOLUNTEER EXPENSE POLICY The GAO Volunteer expense policy is reviewed annually staying current with the industry standards. The policy can be found in your handbook and in the Volunteer section of the GAO website. A few things to remember: • Submit expenses on the GAO volunteer expense form and attach appropriate receipts. • Expense claims must be submitted within 30 days. • Alcoholic beverages will not be reimbursed. • If you are not sure about an expense contact the GAO prior to the expense for clarification.
VOLUNTEER UNIFORM The working volunteer uniform for GAO Volunteers consists of the following: • White Golf Shirt with GAO logo • Tan or Black Pants, Skirt, Shorts or Skort • Black Wind Shirt or Jacket with GAO crest • GAO Volunteer Hat – Tan or Black • GAO Volunteer Name Tag
VOLUNTEER CLOTHING POLICY The clothing policy and order form is included in your welcome package and can be found in the volunteer section of the website. A few things to remember: • If you are active in more than one role, you will receive the greater of the 2 subsidies. • Volunteers are responsible for shipping charges. • If your role changes at anytime during the season resulting in the need for additional clothing or you fell you have received the incorrect subsidy contact the GAO office to discuss.
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION The GAO Volunteer Recognition policy acknowledges contributions through: • Training Allowances • Volunteer Service Pins • Volunteer of the Year Recognition • District Volunteer of the Year Recognition • Special Recognition Awards
