  2. The math department has looked into purchasing new textbooks for this course. The best deal is at a cost of $94 per textbook. • The total cost of the books, C, depends on the number of books that are ordered, n. Since the cost is a function that depends on the number of books ordered we should write it’s equation using function notation. • C(n) = 94n

  3. The cost of ordering 10 new books would be $940. We can show this mathematically by replacing the n in the equation with 10 : C(n) = 94n C(10) = 94(10) C(10) = 940
