  1. Good Morning!!! Hope you ate your Wheaties this morning because school is rocking fo’ real today We will be learning the 5 themes of geography today. For your warm up get out a piece of paper and write down what YOU think are the 5 themes of geography Check the board for an example of how to construct your warm ups! WoooooHoooooo it’s day 3!

  2. 5 Themes of Geography Absolute location/Relative location Place Region Human/Environment Movement

  3. Location, Location, Location • Absolute Location- The exact LOCATION on Earth using Latitude and Longitude coordinates L A T I T U D E Longitude

  4. Location, Location, Location cont. • Relative Location- A location of a place in relation to another place (i.e. south or downhill). Example: Galveston, TX is just south of Houston, TX.

  5. Place • Place- A place is an area that is defined by everything in it. All places have features that give them personality and distinguish them from other places. 

  6. Region • Region- An area that is defined by certain similar characteristics. Those unifying or similar characteristics can be physical, natural, human, or cultural.

  7. Human Environment Interaction • Human/ Environment- How humans interact with the environment & • How the environment responds to that reaction

  8. Movement • Movement- Travel of people, goods, and ideas from one place to another, Immigration & Migration

  9. 30 second break • Discuss with a partner standing next to you something you like that came from another country……… • Example- Types of food, clothing brands, cars, cell phones…..

  10. Activity • Create a bubble map or a chart • If you choose the bubble map it should look like this Human Environment Interaction Absolute/ Relative Location You will need 10 bubble maps Picture 1 Movement Place

  12. Activity • For each picture fill in the column or bubble interpreting evidence from the picture • Individual assignment, be prepared to share and explain your answers • You will have 2 minutes for each picture

  19. China China is West of Japan

  20. Brazil Brazil is 23 degrees S & 77 degrees E

  21. Antarctica Antarctica is South, waaaay South
