  2. The capital of Egypt The capital of Egypt is Cairo it is the biggest city in Africa.

  3. Temperature in Egypt In Egypt the temperature is usually hot and sunny throughout the day. The weather at night is cool and mild.

  4. Animals in Egypt There are a lot of animals in Egypt including Hippopotamus, Gazelles, Camels, lots of fish, frogs, lizards, ducks and many more. The water birds are : Herons, Cranes, Flamingos and ibises. Their favourite animal was the cat. They would be all around their houses and mummified with the pharaohs when they died

  5. Modern Egypt On 22nd February 1922 after a revolution, Britain announced Egypt’s independence.

  6. Egyptian language The official language of Egypt is modern standard Arabic but the main spoken language is Egyptian. The main language taught in schools are English, French, German and sometimes Italian.

  7. The French invasion In 1798 Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Egypt to protect French trade routes. He also started a French school and set up a library, a health service and an antiques museum. French is still spoken in Egypt today.

  8. The Rosetta Stone This was discovered by a French engineer called Pierre Francois Bouchard in July 1779.
