The aim of the foundation is to encourage talented students in Serbia and to help with the improvement of the academic quality of the University.  In 2007 our colleague Ger van Meel (1957 – 2008) made the first contacts in Serbia. He wanted to give Serbian talent a chance in the Netherlands.   Every year we reward a student from Serbia with the “Ger van Meel Award” and a prize of €500,- for his or her thesis. The foundation also financially supports talented chemistry & life science students with a monthly scholarship of €200,- during their last year.
