Cibolo Green A Day in the Life of a 4th Grade Champion!

Agendas Cibolo Green • Students copy the day’s agenda each morning • Leader in Me goal setting and weekly reflection • Parent Communication • Reading Record, 40 Book Genre Challenge, Bluebonnet books • Leader in Me Coupons and Spirit Sticks
Morning Meetings Cibolo Green • Teaches social and emotional learning • Four components used: -greeting Children greet each other by name, often including handshaking, clapping, singing, and other activities. -sharing Students share some news of interest to the class and respond to each other, articulating their thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a positive manner. -group activity The whole class does a short activity together, building class cohesion through active participation. -morning message Students practice academic skills and warm up for the day ahead by reading and discussing a daily message posted for them.

Writing Cibolo Green • Grammar • Spelling – Spelling patterns, Homophones, Affixes (assess every other week) • Free Writing • Writer’s Craft lessons and practice • Revising and Editing • Teacher/Student Conferences
Mathematics Cibolo Green • GoMath and District-written Curriculum • Real World Problem Solving • Hands-on with manipulatives • Math W.I.N. (extension, enrichment, and intervention) • Daily at home practice of Basic Facts
Snack Time Cibolo Green • Finger-food snacks (Please ask teacher about any allergies in the classroom before sending nut snacks) • Student’s personal water bottle encouraged • Birthday treats need to be prearranged the day before and are served at 2:10 PM. (Prepackaged single servings of cupcakes/cookies/healthy snacks)
Reading Cibolo Green • Focus on thinking deeply about texts and their authors using a varieties of genres • Guided Reading of comprehension skills both whole group and small group. • Focus Wall - student personal goal setting for reading improvement • Self-Selected Reading and reading stamina • Reading W.I.N. (extension, enrichment, and intervention)
Social Studies & Science Cibolo Green • Students will study the geography, history, people, and economics of the state of Texas. • Hands-on scientific investigation of grade level TEKS • Global Cardboard Challenge during Forces Unit in October
Technology Cibolo Green • Technology during Enrichment with Chromebooks • Macbooks and iPads in classrooms • Smart board • Think Through Math and iStation • Web applications • Document Camera • Digital Citizenship lessons
Homework Plan Cibolo Green • Homework assigned Fridayand due the following Friday • Homework and weekly newsletter found on the teacher’s webpage • 20 minutes reading daily • 10 minutes multiplication facts daily

Graded Papers Binder Cibolo Green • Graded Papers go home Fridays • Students graph their scores • Parent review papers and graphing • Parent Signature in agenda weekly/daily
Grade Level Grading Policy Late Work: defined as any assignment not submitted on the due date (aside from make-up work due to absence) Teachers will deduct 10% from the total grade earned as a late penalty for any assignment turned in after the due date in accordance with District regulations. Re-teaching, re-testing, and re-assessment: When necessary students will be given a reasonable opportunity to make-up or re-do a class assignment or assessment for which student received a failing grade. A maximum grade of 70% will be recorded when re-doing, re-testing, and /or re-assessing for a failed grade. __ Teachers will give ample time for re-teaching and students will be given 1 opportunity to raise their grade if they score below a 70. __ Students will receive the higher of the two grades if the re-teach is still below a 70. Ex: If the original grade = 45 and then after re-teach they receive an 63. A 63 will go into the gradebook.
