  3. Sustainability and Workinglife RQ: How do certified guides craft meaning in a precarious working life? Theoretical approach: Job crafting are the physical and cognitive changes individuals make in the task or relational boundaries of their work”(Wrzesniewski and Dutton, 2001 p. 179). Workplace vagabonds it may be argues that what is labelled as “freedom of choice”, and positive-loaded buzzwords such as “flexibilty”,“lifelong learning” and “entrepreneurship”, may in fact cover a not all that voluntary adaptation to still stronger market forces, and the adaptation is individualized and internalized, leaving the employees in an isolated, fragmented and competitive working life. (Garsten, 2008) Data: Interview with 18 certified guides from Copenhagen, Umbria, Rimini, Rome/Naples, Italy and Avignon, France

The certified Guide - a born natural- driven by intrinsic motivations Guides craft (idealistic) objectives and social relations to the tourists Guides craft job opportunities and make themselves employable – a lot of invisible/unpaid work Guides compete and craft relations to their colleagues/competitors

  5. Conclusion All guides proved to be ardent job crafters and they sustain an identity as entrepreneurial self-employed rather than as casual labourers Differences runs along these lines: full time – part time guides Organsational set-up Seniority

  6. The game changesnew guides, the collaborativeeconomy, deregulation The cruise industry in Copenhagen has grown 2002: 175.000 cruisevisitors to 2012: 850.000. From 2008-2015 69% growth in overnight stays. Demand of guides exceedssupply - becomes a gateway to guide lights. Social dumping? FreeGuidedWalking Tours has grownexponentially. Copenhagen FreeWalking tours started in 2012 2017: 100.000 tourists and 25 guides Deregulation and liberalizationof the guide occupation within the EU
