COMPOSITE VOLCANOES Mt. St. Helen's, Tambora, Krakatoa and Mt. Fuji are examples of composite (strato) volcanoes.
SHIELD VOLCANOES Long, gently sloping volcanoes that have a low rounded profile. Eruptions are usually not explosive. Lava from underlying chambers may pour from vents across the surface. Made up of Basaltic lava flows.
