CERN-RRB-2010-043 • RRB Apr. 21st 2010 • Situation of Common Funds • Situation of Core Funds • Projected M&O Cat. A budgets for the coming years • Total M&O Cat. A budget and detailed expenditure in 2009 • Approved budget for 2010 and projected for 2011 • Conclusions C. D'Ambrosio, CERN
Common Funds situation at end of year 2009 A 615 kCHFis still uncommitted at present (March 2010). In view of the long shutdown in 2012 – 13 and of the foreseeable important interventions on sub-detectors and on general safety and infrastructure, we would like to ask for an extension of the Common Funds lifetime beyond the foreseen year 2010 to year 2013. C. D'Ambrosio, CERN
Core Most of the Core spending came to an end in 2006. Purchasing for DAQ and data storage will continue throughout 2010 with the future DAQ – FARM expenditure planning being finalized in June. It will be funded by Core and non-Core resources. C. D'Ambrosio, CERN
M&O A forecast (without VELO and Power) in kCHF: Communication, takes in account EVO or whatever comes next. Core Computing in agreement with SG and RRB has been risen from 0 to 150 kCHF. Online Computing maintenance part has been modulated to take in account the delay in LHC startup and (at that time) foreseen shutdown in 2011 (now 2012).
LHCb M&O Category A at Book Closing end 2009 (all in kCHF) Rather well balanced budget. Due to the November start of LHC, a few orders hit towards the end of the year and are being charged to year 2010. Therefore, we propose to keep the 121 kCHF surplus in 2009 as buffer. We will report back to RRB in October.

Projected 2011 M&O Category A Budget : C. D'Ambrosio, CERN
Conclusions The M&O Cat A budget has shown to be well balanced over the recent years. For the near future, we do not expect large fluctuations of the main expenditure lines inside an essentially constant total budget. Some adjustments will possibly come from Online and Offline Computing and Communication. C. D'Ambrosio, CERN
