THROUGH MY EYESMARKÉTA CIRHANOVÁ student from grade threeLos Angeles - 2011 / competition prize
From 7th to 14th of May I was with my dad in Los Angeles for one week. I won competition on Disney Channel - Hannah Montana Style.www.disney.cz/DisneyChannel/competitions/hm_style/I learned about the competition on Disney Channel. I saw the video of Miley Cyrus encouraging spectators to design some creative T-shirt and the winner was supposed to fly to Los Angeles. I didn't hesitate and tried luck.
In about two months I received e-mail that I had been chosen among the top three designs (about 4,500 people competed from the Czech Republic ). And also my parents were contacted. I was just in the mountains and had only one hour for getting my parents' agreement. We started searching for Internet in the mountains so that we could confirm all that and we managed it in the end. Then public internet voting followed. I got big lead in the number of votes compared to the second place. Then they let us know that I had won and what everything I had to arrange. I was very happy. I would never think of such an incredible victory. It was my dream to see Hollywood. And anyway it was great luck.
I was counting days until my and my dad's departure. I was looking forward more and more. And suddenly that big day came.On Saturday 7th of May (exactly at 6:50 a.m.) we left Prague for Amsterdam (the flight took 75 minutes) and then we flew from Amsterdam to Los Angeles (this time it was a 12-hour flight). Traveling was long and because it was afternoon, I could not sleep. Finally we landed in America! After checking-out a limousine driver was waiting for us and took us to the hotel. It was about 3 p.m. according to the local time in the USA, so by nine hours less than in our country. The Hotel was very nice. In the evening we met three winners from other countries (Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary) and with Ms. Sue Dinner who told us what we would do for the whole week. We were free the rest of the day. We were very tired so we went to bad early.
On the second day, on Sunday, our whole group set out to California Disneyland. Unfortunately it was Sunday and so there were too many people in the park and we were just strolling without queuing for the single attractions. • On Monday we spent another day in Disneyland, in Adventure Park. There were plenty of attractions and there weren't so many people there any more. First we went to the attraction with special barrels where water was spraying at us (we hadn't known about it) and when it finished, we were soaking wet. We were enjoying the next attractions soaked but we got dry soon. I liked the best the 4D Cinema where for example it was raining or the wind was blowing and I also liked a tower where you go by lift up and see ghosts and don't expect it and fall down immediately. Then we returned to Los Angeles. • On Tuesday we went to have shooting in Malibu in Britney Spears' former house. On the way I could see the houses of celebrities from Beverly Hills. When we arrived in Malibu, the stylist of Hannah Montana dressed us. And they also made our make up and hair styles. They put on me a pink T-shirt with white trousers and we could even keep these new clothes. They shot us how we were looking at real clothes that were worn by Hannah Montana. And then they made interviews with us. I enjoyed this day very much.
Wednesday was the next shooting day, this time on a beach and on the Walk of Fame. They shot us playing and riding bikes. This day was also very fine.Thursday was a free day and we went shopping and walking on the Walk of Fame I have always wanted to see. It is very nice.On Friday we were free all the morning and in the afternoon we went back to the airport. At about 6 p.m. we flew away to Paris, I was sleeping the whole flight so it passed quickly. Then we changed the flight from Paris to Prague and at about 8 p.m. (European time) we were checked out. We got home at about ten o'clock in the evening.
A another few remarks from the week I really liked: • When we went out at night, I was afraid of all the dark streets and gangsters, it was unusual for me. • It was fine to try how it is to be like a star.American English is not very understandable, sometimes they spoke very fast and my dad and me couldn't understand them. • Americans weren't too slim. I was surprised by some people and also by McDonald's and Burger King at every corner. • The weather was good, just ones it was a little shower. • About on 26th of June 2011 you can see the show about my staying in Los Angeles.
