The Believer’s Diligence to Supply 2 Peter 1:5-9 Each of these qualities is developed through faith, and each strengthens one another and faith These seven characteristics ensure the believer will useful and fruitful in the cause of Christ If they are not present, you are blind, myopic – forgetting what Christ did
The Believer’s Diligence to make certain 2 Peter 1:10-11 Diligence (spoudavzw / spoudadzo) is earnest effort, exertion of oneself, endeavoring "making sure" is to provide a guarantee of your calling and choosing Calling (klh'si" / klasis) refers to His effectual calling in salvation - the irrevocable call (Romans 11:29)
The Believer’s Diligence to make certain 2 Peter 1:10-11 "Choosing" (ejkloghVn / Ekloga) is "election" - to be picked out, selected. - 1 Corinthians 1:27, 28 Make earnest effort to provide a guarantee of salvation by practicing these seven qualities
The Believer’s Diligence to make certain 2 Peter 1:10-11 So that you will not "fall" or "stumble" (ptaivw / ptaio) - "strike the foot against a stone" Peter is comparing those who are useful & fruitful with those who are blind & forgotten their purification Those with these qualities will be lavishly supplied assurance of entering heaven

Summary What Do We Lack?? Commitment to obedience, we have myopic faith. What Must We Do? Be diligent to make these seven qualities a part of our lives
Assurance of Salvation The first assurance to salvation is a changed life 2 Peter 1:10-11 2 Corinthians 5:17 1 John 2:3-6
Assurance of Salvation A lack of change in life could be from: Ignorance & immaturity in walking with Christ - 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 Being blind, short-sighted and fallen into sin 2 Peter 1:9; Galatians 6:1-2
Assurance of Salvation A lack of change in life could be from: Misunderstanding of salvation - wrong Jesus, etc. - 2 Cor. 13:5 They are apostate - 1 John 2:19 We follow Matthew 18:15-18 with those who profess Christ but live in sin
Assurance of Salvation The second assurance is the Holy Spirit within us - Romans 8:16
Assurance of Salvation The primary assurance comes from the promises of God in His word John 1:12,13 John 3:16-18 John 5:24 Romans 10:9,10 1 John 5:10-13
