Pod Week 18 Problem #2
The Problem: During her act the performer twirls the Hula-Hoop without ceasing for 6 minutes at a rate of 2.5 revolutions per second. If she starts her act with point A of the Hula-Hoop touching her arm, how many times does point A again touch her arm during her 6-minute performance?
We needed to find the answer for Problem #1 to help with this problem and I got 8 for the Problem #1. It took 8 revolutions around the performers arm where point A will first be on the performers arm again
My First Step: My first step was to multiply 2.5 times 60 to get how many times the hula hoop would go around her arm in a minute 2.5*60=150
My Second Step: Was to multiply 150 times 6, because the performer twirls the hula hoop for 6 minutes not just 1 minute 150*6=900
My Third Step: I now divided 900 by 8 because the question is asking how many times does point A again touch here arm during her 6-minute performance, not how many times the hula hoop twirls around her arm, for the whole 6 minutes, and since every 8 turns the hula hoop is going to go touch point A you have to divide 900/8=112.5
My Answer Is: The hula hoop touches point A 112.5 times during her 6-minute performance
