Changing your paradigm • Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to change. The first year of Leader in Me, a lot of change takes place.
Our Mission Statement Cleveland Elementary: Lighting the way for future Leaders.
In our “7 minutes” we try to focus on one of the these three areas: • Teachers • Students • Parents Our 7 Minutes topics are driven by our Lighthouse team. We meet weekly and plan according to our long range plans we have displayed for all to see.
Ted Talks to Inspire Teachers http://www.ted.com/talks/rita_pierson_every_kid_needs_a_champion.html Ted Talks is a great tool to use in the classroom and in faculty meeting. Most of the talks are short

Elegant Dining Day About once a month, we have a special day at lunch where we use tablecloths, decorations etc. to make lunch just a little bit different. All while practicing our manners and 7 Habits!
Leadership Camp • This past summer, about 50-60 students were invited to come to school for one day and participate in workshops, painting projects and school beautification projects.
CES Leaders Making a Difference in Our Community School wide can food drive. A friendly competition between Alabama and Auburn fans! Third grade Coats for Kids drive. Students donated over 100 coats for needy families! Student Ambassadors served and spoke at the Blount County Chamber luncheon.
Wildly Important Goals Our Lighthouse team and other faculty members work closely together do visualize and evaluate the needs of our school. Long and short range goals are displayed in the hall for students, teachers, and parents to see.

7 Habits is not “one more thing to do.” How do we incorporate it into daily lessons?
Teachers are learning 7 Habits can be connected to anything they are teaching. This teacher has always used the book Martin’s Big Words. This year she put a “7 Habits spin on it!

Even Santa’s elves know the 7 Habits 4th Grade Gifted and Talented Wax Museum 2nd Grade’s Proactive Pilgrims 5th grade uses 7 Habits as they study Hatchet The Librarian uses her bulletin board to display books about the 7 Habits
How 7 Habits changed the “look” of our school. Students have taken 0wnership and now keep them clean. Our bathrooms are now wonderful places to go into!

The 7 Habits have allowed us all to be on the same mission. Even our kindergarteners know what their mission is.
Future Goals and Topics for 7 Habits in 7 Minutes • Data notebooks in every grade level • Leadership Day – March 21, 201 We plan on making this an annual event. This is a big project involving the entire faculty and community. • Reaching out into the community. • Reaching out to Cleveland High School which is on our campus in effort for the 7 Habits to “spill” over to the high school.
