  2. What are Seasons? Seasons are the result of the tilt of the Earth's axis. This tilting is what gives us the four seasons of the year; spring, summer, autumn and winter. Since the axis is tilted, different parts of the globe are oriented towards the Sun at different times of the year. NEXT SLIDE

  3. SPRING • Is also known as vernal equinox which begins in late March. • The weather becomes warmer and plants revive • A time of growth and renewal NEXT SLIDE

  4. SUMMER • Also known as summer solstice. Which occurs on June 21 • Time where food grows and the warmest out of all seasons NEXT SLIDE

  5. FALL (AUTUMN) • Also known as Autumn equinox • Autumn is the season during which most crops are harvested, and trees lose their leaves. It is also the season where days rapidly get shorter and cooler, the nights rapidly get longer NEXT SLIDE

  6. WINTER • Also known as Winter solstice • The winter solstice occurs on December 21 or 22 and marks the beginning of winter • Very cold and the sun is very far from the Earth NEXT SLIDE
