Research Questions • What are the adverse effects of foods considered normal in one’s diet? • How would a diet that is usually reserved for a personwith certain health concerns affect one inperfect health? • Can adjusting one’s diet have effects on his/herhealth other than the obvious physical improvements (i.e. cognitive function, social interaction, emotions, etc.)?

Research Method • Adjust my diet to match that of someone with a specific dietary condition (Candida Albicans). • Monitor my physical, emotional and behavioral conditions. • Record my thoughts, conditions and experiences via blog posts. • Record the content of my meals by taking iOS pictures and supplementing them to my blog.

Diet Review • What haven’t I eaten? • Red meats (steak, ground beef*, etc.) • Starches and yeast-based products* (leavened breads, breaded foods, potato products, carbs, etc.) • Dairy based products, except yogurt • Sugary foods and drinks (soda, desserts, candy, etc.) *I allowed myself small portions of these in moderation (i.e. ½ muffin and the occasional ground beef).

Diet Review cont. • What did I eat/drink? • Vegetables (lettuce, carrots, corn, onions, salsa) • Fruits (apples, oranges, grapes, tomatoes, pineapple, unsweetened fruit juices) • Tortilla chips/wraps and Pita bread • Yogurt (various flavors) • Water, Coconut water and Silk (soy milk) • Poultry and Pork (including sausage) • Eggs and Beans

  6. So how much did Ieat (approx.)? • 81 veggie portions • 54 fruits portions • 60 tortilla chip portions • 31 poultry products • 30 pork products • 26 yogurts

  7. So how much did Ieat (approx.)? • 14 Naked juices • 14 tortilla wraps • 11 egg portions • 7 bean portions • 5 pita bread portions • 5 Silk drinks • 1 coconut water • 7 beef products • 10 muffins

  8. Finding Answers • Research Calorie levels of each food item • Determine my daily average Calorie intake over the 30 days • Compare my intake to the average 2,000 Calories needed daily • Explore effects of sugars, starches, carbs, protein, etc. on the human body • Delve into the psychology of dieting and food flavors’ effect on the human body

  10. Results • Very lean physique • Diligent homework completion and time management • Greater appreciation for my healthy condition, which allows for carbs, sweets and red meats in moderation • I realize now how much foods affect my emotions and mood (a lot!!)
