Technological Possibilities for Utilization of Solar Power • To produce heat and electricity. • Available technologies – water-heating collectors, photoluminescent systems,solar rays concentrators.
PHOTOVOLTAIC CONVERTORS of SOLAR ENERGY INTO ELECTRICITY • Based on mono or poly crystal silicon. This type of convertors constitutes up to 80% of all systems produced around the world. Coefficient of Efficiency is 11-16%. • Photovoltaic convertors – a thin film of amorphous silicon, cadmium-telluride or copper-indium diselenide. Coefficient of Efficiency is 8-10%, however these are much cheaper compared to the 1st generation. 3. Photovoltaic convertors of the 3rd generation are multi-layered structures of various silicones, arsenide gallium and similar elements. Coefficient of Efficiency is 30-60%, however these are very expensive.
BENEFITS of USING PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR SYSTEMS: • Low operating costs; • No harmful emissions; • Long service life period; • Easy to install and operate.
DISADVANTAGES of USING PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR SYSTEMS: • High initial capital investment; • Dependent on solar radiation; • High coefficient of surface area per unit of power.
Practical Steps for Developing and Managing Production (1) • ОАО Foton began production of PV systems in 2003 on the initiative of the Agency on the Transfer of Technology; • PV systems of 100W, 200W, 300W, 500W and 1000W and 1200W have been developed and are being successfully operated; • PV systems of 1600W, 2000W, 3000W and 5000W are being developed;
Practical Steps for Developing and Managing Production (2) • A number of efficient types of controllers to be operated at residential and technical stations have been developed; • A number of supporting mechanisms to be used for various purposes in the area of renewable energy have been developed; • Specifications, regulating production conditions, parameters, quality requirements, and testing methods have been developed and registered by the office of State Standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

CONCLUSIONS: • Production processes have been established and certain experience in developing and operating renewable energy technologies has been amassed in the Republic of Uzbekistan; • Technologies, fully adhering to national and international standards, have been developed, allowing local production to be competitive;
CONCLUSIONS: • Due to increased awareness of potential users, as well as rising costs of traditional energy, demands for PV systems and solar collectors increased dramatically, allowing us to start developing markets; • Further developments in this sector are hindered by insufficient investment; • Larger investments by domestic, as well as international organizations involved in this sector, are needed;
CONCLUSIONS: Development and adoption of a new law on renewable energy in the Republic of Uzbekistan will contribute to the strengthening of the legal basis for renewable energy applications and will create favorable conditions for: • Formulating the National Development Strategy; • Extensive development and increased production in areas of renewable energy; • Creating mechanism to encourage establishment of specialized development funds outside of the state budget; • Providing custom and tax benefits; • And many more.
