Task • You will be assigned into a group of four. • Read the story “The Life of Celia Cruz.” Gather information for your presentation. • Go to Cuba and find out additional information. • This will be the field trip of your life! • Reader Response… are people with different, creative ideas, thought of as weird, or are they admired in this book?
Process-Outline • Take a trip to Cuba • Find out three facts about Cuba • Find information about Celia Cruz and answer questions • What city was Celia from? • How many siblings did she live with as a child? • What was her nickname? • How is Celia Cruz honored in New York City? • What did “sugar” mean to Celia Cruz? • Name some of the awards Celia received throughout her career.
