Discuss in Partners • Think about Jesus’ crucifixion. • How do you think the disciples felt during those days that Jesus was in the ground? • How do you think you would have responded to his death? • Where would you have gone? • What would you have done? • With whom? • Glo Bible Resurrection Video

  3. Partner work • In the same way the disciples disbelieved, what are some of the reasons that modern people disbelieve the resurrection of Jesus? • Build a list with your partner.

  8. John 20:1-10 • At this point in the story, what does Mary think has happened to Jesus? • Why all the detail in v7? • When Peter and John get to the tomb they believe (v8) but the parenthetical note in verse 9 says they didn’t yet understand. What did they believe at this point?

  9. Read John 20:11-18 • Who did Mary think Jesus was? • Why is this significant? • Where else is a garden/gardener a big deal? • She went to tell the disciples… did they believe her right away?

Read John 20:19-31 • Can Jesus walk through walls? • Considering that his own disciples had trouble believing, how should that affect our expectations about others’ belief? • Why do you think Jesus had Thomas put his hand in his wound? • Who is Jesus talking about in verse 29? • In what ways are you like Thomas?
