Were they corroborated? • What does it mean for something to be corroborated? • Corroborate – verb - to support or help prove (a statement, theory, etc.) by providing information or evidence • Example: I once had a dog named George. He was a black and brown bloodhound.

Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard, 16 but Peter had to wait outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the high priest, came back, spoke to the servant girl on duty there and brought Peter in. [answer: John had to talk to her to let Peter into the courtyard.] • Mark 15:43 - Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. [question: Why was this a bold move?] • John 19:38 - Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. [answer: because followers of Jesus were close to him in his household]
