Translation Page 1 • A translation is a transformation of the plane that slides every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction. • A translation is a direct isometry. • A translation creates a figure that is congruent with the original figure
Translation Page 2 • Translations may be combined with rotations and reflections. • A translation is the same as sliding/shifting an object. • The original object and its image are congruent - identical in every respect except for their position.
Reflection Page 1 • A transformation where each point in a shape appears at an equal distance on the opposite side of a given line • A mirror image • Has the same size of the original image
Reflection 2 • The operation of exchanging all points of a mathematical object with their mirror images • They flip in a 180 degree angle
Rotation Page 1 • Turning around a center • The distance from the shape stays the same • Every point makes a circle around the center
Rotation Page 2 • the turning of a body part about its long axis as if on a pivot • rotation is a transformation in a plane or in space that describes the motion of a rigid body around a fixed point
Summary We learned: That transformations can be used in many ways. Like real life situations such as: art, geometry, and graphic designs We had a little difficulty: We didn’t have any difficulty with nothing. The easiest part of the lesson was: Finding the pictures for the transformations We enjoyed: Doing the whole project We would like to: Learn something different
