  21. Leger FeliciteSonthonax The French Civil Commissioner sent by the Convention who along with his fellow commissioner, Etienne Plouverel, worked to keep St-Domingue in the hands of the French by granting the slaves freedom. He returned to France in 1794 but was forced to flee the next year.
