What? • Baltic WPKI Forum aims at harmonised electronic identity standards in the Baltics. • Among other benefits this should enable: • cross-border use of digitally signed documents (compatible formats), • harmonised user experience including interfaces (proven, handy) • harmonised level of security of the services (high security, consumer trust) • easier life for developers and service providers • In Estonia the service is branded as Mobile-ID.

  3. Why? • E-services have become a key in business relations and national economic development in the Baltic countries. Their security is a matter of national as well as private interest. • Increasing fraud and attacks • National computer security plans EE and LT – willingness to act • The expensive WPKI has become affordable • Since Aug 2007 all SIMs issued in Estonia will be WPKI-capable. A matter of time in Baltics. • Customer demand – 1000 pan-Baltic co-s already • Faster, more efficient business in Baltics • Company electronically in 2 hours in Estonia (25% of new companies set up in 2007)

  6. What next? • Mapping of technical issues, suggestions • 17 May next Steering Group meeting in Riga • Beginning of May: launch of Mobile-ID in Estonia
