The word potential • Having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future • The ability that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness Exploiting our Potential therefore refers: • to exploit the abilities that may be developed which may lead to future success or • Growing the capacity to develop into something successful in future

  3. How are going to exploit this potential before us to grow into useful citizens in future? • We already have the foundation: whether you went to the Seminary for one day, one week, one month, finished and went to Major Seminary, became a priest and/or even left, you already have the foundation • The daily interaction with God • The communality of doing things there together • The simple life, we were leading • The strict instructions we were subjected to • Etc… All these have formed a good foundation for developing the Potential to lead a successful life in future.

  4. How do we exploit this potential before us?First things first 1. Create a Powerful Guiding Coalition 2. SWOT Analysis 3. You Need Vision • Mission Statement • Strategies and Programmes

  5. Defining Your Vision A Vision is aPurposeful Imagination of the Wished or Desired Situation (Dr. Muhairwe) It is a dream you wish to come true. It is a dream you wish fulfilled (Dr. Muhairwe) A Vision therefore is a short and inspiring statement of what you or your organisation intends to become and to achieve at some point in future. Japanese Proverb: “Vision without Action is a Day dream. Action Without Vision is a Nightmare”

  6. SUCCESS IS NEVER ENDING (IT IS A PROCESS)FAILURE IS NEVER FINAL

  7. So how do we go about turning our potential into Success? 1. You have to dream it! Dream that you can do it! Here you need 3 “Cs” Curiosity Confidence Courage 2. Remove the word Impossible from your vocabulary (the targets?) 3. Turn the Failure thinkers into the Possibility thinkers Look at the attitude towards Change Look at the yourself as a Leader, the achiever The People around You The Problems at Hand Create Ideas Be a Decision Maker

  8. How do you Manage our potential Effectively?(Possibility Thinking) Ref Book: “How to be Brilliant; Change your ways in 90 days”-Michael Happell Positive Action Break out of Limiting Beliefs Think Differently Ability to Manage Stress Massive Action Break all the rules (That don’t make sense)

  9. How do you Manage your potential Effectively(Attract Success) Ref Book: “Attitudes that Attract Success”- Wayne Cordeiro Make your choice Believe you can change Train your eyes to see what is good Practice, Practice & Practice Never Give Up

  10. Attracting Success for exploiting your potential • Make your choice Mathew 5:3,5,7-9. Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Luqman 31:18-19 (Quoran) Turn not your cheek away from people in scorn and pride, and walk not on earth haughtily;; for God does not love anyone who acts proudly and boastfully. Be modest in your bearing and lower your voice; for the ugliest sound is the donkey’s braying. Al Furqan 25:63 (Quoran) The true servants of the Most Merciful are those who behave gently and with humility on earth, and whenever the foolish quarrel with them, they reply with words of peace. • Believe you can change - Mathew 9:29. According to your faith ,will it be done to you. • Train your eyes to see what is good Proverbs 11:27. He who diligently seeks good seeks favour, but he who searches after evil, it will come to him Al-isra’ 17:15 (Quoran) Whosoever chooses to follow guidance, follows it for his own good; whosoever goes astray goes astray to his own loss • Practice, Practice & Practice -Hebrews 5:14 Because of Practice, you can discern good from evil • Never Give Up - Winston Churchill Surah Al ‘Imran, 139 (Quoran) Do not give up and do not be downhearted.   11. How are we going to package the power of Possibility thinking and Success in our lives as KISOBA OBs? Change your Attitude Recognise your Position Itemise your God Given Assets Properly (Your Strength, Weaknesses) Set your Objectives/Goals Harmonize the Conflicts within your self and around you Capitalise on your Experiences Make a Plan Stretch your Imagination Visualise your Expectation Go for it, THE CHOICE IS YOURS You will Succeed!! Whatever you do today, do it better tomorrow

  13. In Conclusion: There is always a difference one can create in terms of exploiting your potential. You just need determination, commitment , courage and discipline. Always, remember the saying: “WE MUST EITHER FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE” HANNIBAL Your Brain is like a Parachute, it only functions when Opened.
