  1. LIAMA and Scilab Project Dr. LI Shi http://liama.ia.ac.cn http://www.scilab.org.cn

  2. LIAMA • What is LIAMA? Laboratoire Franco-Chinois d’Informatique, d’Automatique et de Mathématiques Appliquées A Sino-French Joint Lab • a team of French and Chinese researchers and students • working together on about 6 research projects • initiated in France by INRIA • hosted by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS

  3. A history of almost a decade LIAMA was established in January 1997 by • The Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS, and • The French Institute for Computer Science and Control, INRIA To promote cooperation in the areas of computer science, automation and applied mathematics Following an annual call for proposals small research projects funded by both parties have been selected each year by a joint scientific committee

  4. A hub for the cooperation in IT • Joint research projects • Training of students LIAMA hosts an increasing number of French students LIAMA sends Chinese students to Europe • Innovation and normalization • Promotion of open source software Scientific computing software, Scilab • Development projects with French industry Alcatel Space, France Telecom, etc. • Promotion of Sino-European cooperation 1st FP5 IST EU-China project, ANFAS, 1999 1st OIF Marie Curie fellowship for China, 2006

  5. The current research projects • Fundamental and applied research Brain imaging and cognitive disorders Eco-informatics (environmental models and images) Computer graphics, CAD - Computational geometry Pattern recognition and image processing DQP (Distributed Query Processor) for Dynamic Ad-hoc Network • Development - open source software Promotion of the scientific computing software Scilab

  6. SCILAB Project • Administrative Aspects Project Title: Open Source Promotion(SCILAB Promotion in China and South Asia) Scientific Leader(s) or Coordinators: Claude GOMEZ (claude.gomez@inria.fr) LI Shi (leeshi@liama.ia.ac.cn) Staff in LIAMA: Dr. LI Shi , Prof. HU Baogang

  7. Summary 30 works have been submitted from 22 affiliations. The works related to industry application, Image processing, Applied mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Processing, Modelling and Simulation, Voice Recognition, Neural Network, Complex Networks, etc. Five First Prize, Ten Second Prize, and Ten Third Prize are selected from the 30 Works.

  8. First Prize Winners Jing-yuan Chen, Guang-Yong Gang, Ying-Xue Tao, Jian-Zhu Zhang Affiliation: Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (IAPCM), Beijing Item: Simulation of Adaptive Optics SAO is a toolbox based on Scilab/Scicos environment for the simulation of wave optics, especially for the simulation of adaptive optics .

  9. First Prize Winners Feng-Bin Jiang, Chuan-Wen Lin, Wen-Qing Xiao, Kai-Gui Yang, Jie-Min Zheng, Xi-Yue Zhou, Shu-Yang Lin Affiliation: Xiamen University Item: Scilab Aurora Toolbox Scilab Aurora is a simple but useful video editor software for Windows and Linux. It implements almost all important feature of a non-liner editor, such as filters effect, transition, motion setting, transparency setting.

  10. First Prize Winners Zhe Peng, Long-Hua Ma Affiliation: ZheJiang University Item: SciSCADA Toolbox SciSCADA is a toolbox based Scilab on to exchange data with industry device. It can let Scilab used in industrial area, and realizing control and optimization on-line based on Scilab.

  11. First Prize Winners Roger Liu, Isaac Zhi, Jason Huang, Du HuiQian, Mei WenBo Affiliation: Beijing Institute of Technology Item: Scilab Wavelet Toolbox It includes onedimension and two dimension discrete wavelet transform functions compatible with those in MatlabWavelet Toolbox. This toolbox is aimed to provide freewavelet toolbox on open source scientific computingplatform.

  12. First Prize Winners Bo Wu, Wei Chen, Gang Yan Affiliation: University of Science and Technology of China Item: Complex Network Toolbox In this Scilab project, we providesome parameter functions to compute the fundamental status of models, dynamicsmodel functions to observe the whole process of evolution. The toolbox includes one cute GUI, so that people could create theirmodels easily only through select the buttons.
