  2. E-commerce catalog is the backbone of every e-commerce platform. Product catalog managementis the strategic process of managing e-commerce product which ensures quality data all over your sales channel. It helps to increase your business as customers get all your product descriptions and images they need to make a purchase decision.

  3. 1. Updating products constantly • Depending on the type of e-commerce products you sell, it’s important to keep on updating SKUs on a regular basis. This is because either product's pricing keeps on changing or there is a new addition in the store. This increases your workload because of product mismanagement. It is important to devote a sufficient amount of time to update your catalog so that users do not get bored by repetition.

  4. 2. Selling across multiple channels • Listing and selling your products on multiple channels can be an uphill task. Every channel has its own specific guidelines for selling products. You have to always list products in different ways on different channels. Following the same way of listing for every channel may not put your product in the right place and might result in a fall of customer’s faith and expectations. This will result in the shifting of your customers towards your competitor.

There is a high risk of not focusing on content management, misspelled words, and irrelevant product descriptions which directly harms your business. It becomes overwhelming to establish and maintain high standard data. Your customers always expect accurate data and product descriptions matching to your products.

This is because suppliers don’t sell their product directly to their customers, they do it in their own way without proper formats. This makes the managing of Ecommerce product catalogproblematic and it can take weeks for the company to categorize data properly.

  7. 5. Expanding product catalog • Expanding your Product catalogcan be a challenging task. It's difficult to add more SKUs when your product catalog is already messed. You have to clean up your SKUs or have to make sure that there is no longer any inconsistency in the product data quality. Such being the case, makes it difficult for the merchants to expand their product catalog and discourages them from growing their business.
