What is BMI? • Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. • The higher the BMI the more at risk the person is for having health problems. • BMI <25 is normal.
Why exercise? • The more you exercise the healthier you’ll be. • Statistics show that the more that exercise the higher the percentage of not being obese. • Workouts do not have to be strenuous, everyone is different. • Do what works for you. • Stay fit and stay healthy!
Risk factors • People with a higher BMI are at a higher risk of have diabetes • If younger children are overweight they have a higher risk of becoming obese and getting diabetes
Obesity is Increasing • People who are NOT obese is decreasing. • This means that the people who are overweight is increasing.
What to do about this? • Eat healthy • Stay active • Have others get involved • Choose activities you enjoy • Drink water!!
