Economic Crisis in Germany • 1919 – France and GB demand immediate payment of war reparations • 1921 – Germany can’t pay • GB offers moratorium but France and Belgium won’t budge • 1923-1925 – France occupies the Ruhr Valley • Germans outraged at unfair and abusive treatment of the victors • Increased nationalism growth on Nazi Party • Strips Germany of 80% of its coal and steel production • Hyperinflation • Middle Class and Small Businessmen suffer greatest losses • Lose faith in the Weimar Republic
