Current Activities ESTABLISHED: 2003 2011 1995 2011 2005 2012 STRATEGY The group strategy is to use technical and financial resources to create new ventures mainly in natural resources. MINING Connemara Mining Company plc. – Market Cap £2.2m, listed on AIM. Gold and Zinc exploration in Ireland. Botswana Diamonds – Market Cap £4.5m, listed on AIM February 2011. Late stage diamond exploration in Botswana and Cameroon. OIL Petrel Resources plc. – Market Cap £16m, listed on AIM. Petrel Resources is an Oil exploration company in Iraq, Ghana and offshore Ireland. Clontarf Energy plc. – Market cap of £7.5m, listed on AIM. Clontarf Energy is an oil and gas producer in Bolivia and has high potential exploration ground in Peru and Ghana. INDUSTRIAL Alternative Energy Resources Ltd - Ethanol supplier, now developing a patented technology to release energy from algae. The company returned €5m to investors in April 2011. It continues as an R&D company. It raised €1m on a €4.5m valuation in early 2012. Irish Whiskey Company: Start up, selecting sites. Expect to distil in 2014. Portfolio stakes are held in Norish, a listed storage company, and Neos, a listed renewables company. CORPORATE TRANSACTIONS January 2012 Cooley Whiskey sold to Beam Global for US$95m. January 2012 Swala Resources to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Concordia (TSX). Current value $30m. December 2010 African Diamonds acquired by Lucara (TSX) for $100m. April 2010 Pan Andean Resources sold to Petrominerales (TSX) at a cash value of $31m. February 2010 West African Diamonds merged into Stellar Diamonds (AIM) at a value of $6m. The principals have over time established 15 listed resource companies, some of which have become fully listed, including Kenmare Resources (current market cap $1.4bn) and Mwana Africa (market cap $150m).
CONNEMARA MINING (AIM:CON) • AIM listed. Established to exploit and develop zinc and gold opportunities in Ireland. • Price 8p. 12 month range 8p – 27p. • Market Cap £2.2m. 24m shares in issue; directors control 30%. • Significant zinc discovery at Stonepark near Limerick – 2 kms apart. Teck Cominco / Connemara J.V. Connemara holds 25%. • Oldcastle block joint ventured with Teck who are spending €1.35m to earn 75%. Major seismic survey in 2013. • Joint venture on Mine River Block of 5 gold licences in Wicklow. Hendricks Resources spending €1m to earn 75%. BOTSWANA DIAMONDS (AIM: BOD) • Spin off from the successful sale of African Diamonds. AIM listed. Market Cap £4.5m. • BOD has a joint venture with a major international diamond company using new technology to explore North Eastern Botswana. The target is large high volume high value kimberlite pipes. Thirteen targets identified. • Field work ongoing on 230 sq km prospective licence in north east Orapa. Twelve targets five priority current work is to identify drill sites. Drilling in December. • BOD has discovered palaeoplacer rock on their 8,000 sq km exploration licence in Cameroon adjacent to the new Mobilong diamond mine. A 400 sq km section is being sampled for diamonds. Diamonds discovered. Experience operating environment. • An agreement is in place to work as operator on a diamond licence, in the Chimanimani area of Zimbabwe. Political uncertainty very high. Project on hold. Clontarf Energy (AIM: CLON) • Exploration activities in Bolivia, Peru and Ghana. • Oil and gas production in Bolivia. • Market cap £7.5m @ 3.8p. • 1,600 shareholders. Management/directors hold 20%. • Operations • 60% of Tano 2A block onshore/offshore Ghana. Awaiting final parliamentary approval. Eight targets identified from seismic reprocessing. • Two world class oil exploration blocks in Peru: 183 and 188. Joint venture discussions ongoing. • Block 183 lies between existing oil and gas producers. It covers almost 400,000 hectares. Leads and prospects already identified. Farm in negotiations ongoing. • Block 188 covers almost 600,000 hectares. There are 3 producing reservoirs in the area. • Finalising restructuring of interests in the Monteagudo oil/gas field. Clontarf will hold a 50% interest. The potential is a multi tcf gas target at depth. • Once negotiations are finalised on the 10% stake in the El Dorado gas field Clontarf will be entitled to 10% of cash flow from a 20 mmcf producing field containing 440 bcf of gas. PETREL RESOURCES (AIM:PET) • AIM listed oil explorer focused on Ghana, Iraq and Ireland • Price 22p, 12 month range 4.5p – 37p. Market Cap £16m. • Cash of $4.0m • 1,800 Shareholders. Management control 25%. • Holds 100% of two exploration option licences on blocks in the Porcupine Basin Offshore Ireland. Reworking and reprocessing has identified leads and prospects which have identified structures with potential to hold in excess of 1 billion barrels of oil. • In Iraq since 1999 holds an interest of 10,000 sq km in the Western Desert of Iraq. AER ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES (AER) • Formed in 2006 to examine opportunities in renewables. • Supplied excise free ethanol to the Irish market from 2007 to 2011. • Is developing an algae based biofuel technology. This is patented. • Pilot testing at present. • One Six Two Group control 25%. • €5m returned to shareholders in April 2011. • Algae research being supported by Enterprise Ireland and AIB Enterprise Fund. • Has JVs with industry leaders. • Raised €1m in early 2012 on a €4.5m valuation.
