  2. The UNECE Gender database and website Introduction • The gender database and website are concrete outputs of the UNECE/UNDP project that aimed • to create a regional platform for • data dissemination • knowledge exchange • to foster gender balance and policy monitoring in the ECE region.

The UNECE Gender database and website Collaborative aspects • Joint UNECE/UNDP project • Use of data from partner organizations • New Task Force on the UNECE Gender Statistics Database • New initiative working with 6 member countries and 1 other international organization on improving the content and use of the database

The UNECE Gender database and websiteTask Force on the UNECE Gender Statistics Database Main Objectives • Foster collaboration and discussion with National Statistical Offices and other international organizations working on similar databases • Provide suggestions on new indicators or modifications to the UNECE database • Develop a marketing strategy to reach out to users • Coordinate/produce publications using data from the UNECE database on a regular basis, possibly in collaboration with national agencies and international organizations

  15. Challenges • Decision making • In many countries, there is no systemic data collection on political participation, research, judicial system, media, economy. • Health • In the field of health, it is a challenge to determine appropriate data on health topics which reflect gender issues.
