From Day One • Bed Management – bi-directional PAS link (iSoft iExPRess) • Discharge Planning (conditions, TLOS) • Produce electronic discharge summaries for GPs (print & fax) • Refer patients to Social Services or STINT (Contact 1) (print & fax) • Record nursing paperwork • Record VTE assessments • Electronic handover between shifts • Referral to Hospital at Night teams out of hours • Monitor infection outbreaks – link to Pathology system (iSoft Tpath)

Challenges • Limited organisational buy-in • Huge change to working processes for all staff • Small team = long roll-out, but still challenging • Releasing staff for training • SSO/Smartcards • Interfaces • Doctors • Discharge Summaries, VTEs
Benefits • Up-to-date, accurate information on patients • ADTs, consultant, conditions, assessments • Patient information more widely available, yet more secure • Nursing assessments • Better quality input (mandatory fields) • Lack of duplication • Improved communication between staff (at handover) • Improved bed management/planning
