  2. Being a MomSelected Scriptures Who is my mother? Mother / Mom is a word for the woman that sacrificed herself over and over again for you Mother / Mom brings mixed emotions for some because that person abused them in some way Mothering is a difficult job

  3. Being a MomSelected Scriptures Many parents regret having children An admission to their poor job in parenting & to their own selfishness Many do not have any sense of God’s hand in them becoming parents Many parents view their children as problems instead of blessings

  4. Being a MomSelected Scriptures Factors encouraging selfishness: Lack of value a mom’s role. Over emphasis on career and / or self-fulfillment Society’s philosophy & methods of child-rearing are contrary to the Scriptures

  5. Being a MomSelected Scriptures Proverbs 13:24 School systems contradict Biblical ethics with situation ethics & secular morals Children are a blessing, not a curse - Psalm 127:3-5; Psalm 128:3-4

  6. Marvelous Blessing A love that develops for the child even while that life is growing in your womb The joy of a child being born into the world - John 16:21 The love that you give as your children grow and mature - 1 Thessalonians 2:8

  7. Marvelous Blessing Being used by the Lord in a special way in the life of that child God uses your children to make you more mature & draw closer to the Lord – Romans 5:2-8, James 1:2-4

  8. Overwhelming Responsibilities Ephesians 6:4 Nurture = Training, instruction, chastening, discipline - to live by the principles & precepts of the Lord Admonition = Exhortation, warning – to prevent disobedience to the Lord

  9. Overwhelming Responsibilities To love the Lord & teach your children about Him in all situations. Proverbs 1:8; 6:20 A wise child brings gladness, but a foolish child brings grief and shame on the mother (Proverbs 10:1, 29:15) Parents are responsible before God in how they raise their children

  10. Overwhelming Responsibilities God wants us to look to Him in raising our children & be dependent upon Him Seek God’s forgiveness for failure. This gives a proper model of walking with Him Children (of any age) can never use their parent’s failures as an excuse for their own sin (2 Peter 1:3; 1 Cor. 10:13)

  11. Maternal PrinciplesProverbs 31:10-31 She is a Good Wife - Proverbs 31:10-12 You will never be a better mother than you are a wife She is industrious - Proverbs 31: 10-19 She increases the gain of the family - Proverbs 31: 16, 23, 24

  12. Maternal PrinciplesProverbs 31:10-31 She watches over her household - She is busy, not slothful - Proverbs 31:27 Her family is well cared for - Proverbs 31:14-15 Her work clothes her family - Proverbs 31:21-22

  13. Maternal PrinciplesProverbs 31:10-31 She is wise in teaching She teaches by what she says - Proverbs 31:26 She teaches by her example - Proverbs 31:25 She is compassionate - Proverbs 31:20

  14. Maternal PrinciplesProverbs 31:10-31 She fears the Lord - Proverbs 31:30 Her children praise her & call her blessed - Proverbs 31:28 Her husband says she excels them all - Proverbs 31:29 The Proverbs 31 woman is the supreme practical example of a godly mother

  15. Conclusions Be the best mom you can be by: Put the LORD first & develop your relationship with Him. Be a good wife. Watch over your household. Be a wise teacher & a godly example to your children.
