Primary Industry • Lobster Fishing has been a primary industry in this area for many years • Found naturally in our oceans to help satisfy our needs and wants • Provided a good income for many people for many years • Still a great demand for lobster but the pay out is not as big today
Refrigeration trucks transport to nearby processing plants • Lobsters are sold fresh or processed for other raw meat products • New Processing and packaging technology has improved the shelf life of lobster • Local jobs attracts people to come to live in the area
Secondary Industry • Manufacturing of the lobster • Fish plants use to be used locally to process the lobster • Now we have local buyers and truck drivers to transport the lobster • Provides jobs for other people other then the fisherman
Tertiary Industry • Provides jobs for many people • Boat building • Traps • Buying bait • Processing plants • The need for truck drivers to export the lobster • Gas stations, banks, repair shops, grocery stores, hospitals, churches, schools, restaurants
Quaternary Industry • Computer technology has improved on fishing boats • Faster and more reliable boats • Markets are easier to access therefore easier to sell their product • Improved technology in studying the lobster population and how to sustain the industry so it doesn’t get depleted
