2.Clothing Wear clothing suitable to the weather and to help protect you against the elements. • Rain parkas and pants made of waterproof and windproof nylon (heavy and bulky)
2.Clothing • Breathable, waterproof and windproof fabrics (light weight and can be rolled into a small package and stowed in the pocket of a jacket or pack. • Ponchos will do a good job of shedding rain, but it will make casting more difficult and are not recommended. Cheap rain gear will snag on branches and tear.
3. Rod and Reels Open faced spinning reel Spinning tackle ranges from heavy-duty big-water outfits that require two hands to cast to the ultra light combinations that weigh only a few ounces. Because there is no movable spool, long casts can be made effortlessly with spinning tackle. Tiny lures may be cast long distances on the heavier outfits. Spinning outfits also are used for trolling. The present drag holds the line at a tension that will release on a strike from a heavy fish but will not release because of the motion of the boat or the pull of the current.
Bait-casting Bait casting is used anytime heavy cover is going to be targeted. It's ability to handle heavy line, lures and fish is unmatched as is its strength to weight ratio. Bait cast equipment is NOT meant to be used with light lures; anything under ¼ oz. would be better fished with spinning tackle. Bait casting tackle is the go to tackle when big fish and big lures meet thick, nasty cover. Bait casting rods come in varying lengths and look somewhat like a spin casting rod. But that's where all similarity ends. Bait casting rods typically have a lot more backbone than the other types of rods. It's this backbone that allows you to muscle a fish from thick weed growth or away from timber. It's also this backbone that allows you to cast heavyweight lures, work big jerk baits and twitch crank baits effectively. Try these tactics with most spinning tackle and you'll be exhausted. Once you become proficient with a bait cast reel, it's possible to drop a lure in a 6-inch circle at 50 feet, with hardly a ripple on the water.
Ice and fly-fishing ice fishing is as basic as making a hole, setting up a line and sitting on a stool waiting for the fish to bite. Those who need a few creature comforts build more robust ice houses Fly reels are normally manual, single-action designs. Rotating a handle on the side of the reel rotates the spool which retrieves the line, usually at a 1:1 ratio (i.e., one complete revolution of the handle equals one revolution of the spool). The Centre pin reel is also used for coarse fishing, where one can use it to trot on a fast flowing river. Normally, the float would be pulled under because of the fast current, but the Centre pin reel automatically releases line, thus making the float not go under.
