Living Situation of guest workers Flats • Guest workers lived in small and unpleasant flats. • Had to share it with other workers: Up to six people shared one flat. • Had only the things they really needed to live there, like a bed and the kitchen equipment.
Social and financial situation • They received less payment than the Germans: Didn't “deserve“ the same. • The rent was deducted from the payment. • Were often “bad mouthed“ Like: “Itaker“ (wop), “Polake“ and “frog-eater“. • Rumours were spread Like they are womanizers. • Lived separated from the Germans.
Teenage immigrants with a criminal Background • Violence starts at ages 14-17 (when jobs actually don’t play a role). • When they grow up in an area where there are a lot of criminal gangs, it is easy to get on the wrong track. • Germany and Britain are not sharing the best-practise strategies when it comes to tackling the problem. • Most crimes are committed by young Muslims. • Germany has decided to give them consistent advice.
Basic information • 2013: 130.000 asylum seekers in Germany. • In 2013 there are more asylum seekers than in 2006 to 2009 together. • Most of the asylum seekers come from Russia, Serbia and Syria.
Problems of asylum seekers • Bad living situation • Small rooms • Too many people for the small rooms • Not enough equipment (kitchen, bathroom, washing machine etc.) • Old and dirty flats • Integration • Not everyone gets the change to learn German in a German course. • The asylum seekers are separated from the Germans.
