Distinctions within Godhead • A willing chain of authority exists in order to accomplish human redemption 1 Peter 1:2 • FATHER—SON—HOLY SPIRIT, Jno 14:28; 1 Cor 11:3; Jno 15:26; 16:13-15 • This does not appear to be eternally so, Jno 1:1; 17:5; Phil 2:6 • When redemption is completed, Deity will forever reign in glory, 1 Cor 15:28 (Rev 21:22-23; 22:3-5)

  10. Distinctions within Godhead The Father • Authoritative Planner, Jno 17:4 ( Eph 1:3-5) • Possesses all authority, Matt 28:18; 1 Cor 15:24-28 • Sent the Son, Gal 4:4; Jno 8:16, 18 (17:3) • Sent the Holy Spirit, Jno 14:26

  11. Distinctions within Godhead The Son • Executes the Father’s Will, Jno 3: 35; 4:34; 9:4; Heb 2:9-10 (10:5-7) • Willingly submitted to serve and save, Phil 2:5-8 (Matt 20:28); Jno 14:31 • Given all authority to accomplish redemption, Jno 17:2-4 (Matt 28:18) • Sent the Holy Spirit, Jno 15:26

Distinctions within Godhead The Holy Spirit • Comforter, Revealer, Confirmer and Sanctifier • Willingly submitted Himself to the Father and the Son, Jno 16:13-15 • Comforter to apostles, Jno 14:16-17 • Revealer and Confirmer of the gospel, Jno 16:13; 15:26 (1 Cor 12:11) • Sanctifier of mankind, 2 Ths 2:13 (1 Pet 1:2; Jno 17:17)

What This Means To Us • We must put our faith in the true and living God for the salvation of our souls • Turn to the living God from dead and useless things, Acts 14:15 (4:12) • Believe that Jesus Christ is from above, Jno 8:23-24 • Without faith based on the Spirit-inspired word we cannot please God, Heb 11:6 (Rom 10:17)

What This Means To Us • We must love God completely, Matt 22:37 (Deut 6:4-5) • Bless and praise the Father, Eph 1:3-4; 3:14-15; 1 Pet 1:3-5 • Honor the Son, Col 3:16-17 (Matt 28:18-20) • Respect the Holy Spirit, Heb 12:25; 10:26-29 • cf. Israel (prince with God), Gen 32:28; Deut 6:4 (10:12-22; 1 Pet 2:9-12) • We must trust the everlasting God, Isa 40:27-31; Jno 14:1-6

  16. FATHER GOD SON H.S. Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Deut 6:4-5)
