2008 Channel Partner Meeting Water-based CPCs Update
Outline • Water-based CPC Improvements • Hardware Upgrades • Firmware Upgrades • Water-based CPC Field Support Documents • Quick Guides • Recommended Operating Procedures • Troubleshooting Guides
Water CPC Improvements • Model 3781 & 3786 • update all instruments in the field • flow orifice and filter kits for field upgrade • Model 3785 (& 3782) • update new units and units in for service or repair • kits available upon request • All other improvements will be included (for no additional charge at annual service and calibration (including hardware for water trap sensor) • Customers can upgrade firmware in the field if they choose
3786 Upgrades • Replace sheath damper and purge orifice with screen less orifices • Add 43mm screen purge filter • Replace the small area 73mm screen upstream of the total flow control orifice with a large area 43mm screen • Install canister filters upstream of the sheath flow control orifice • Add a check for sheath pump and total pump drive to the firmware. Indicate clog on status screen • September 2006: upstream sheath filter was changed from small area 73mm to large area 43mm Field Upgrade Kits Available
3781 Upgrades • Replace the transport, damper and flow control orifices with screen less orifices • Replace inlet screen (originally 25μm mesh) with 100um mesh screen • Install canister filter upstream of the transport orifice • September 2007: upstream sheath filter was changed from small area 73μm to large area 43μm Upgraded ~20 beta customers in December 2007: Significantly reduced failures in the field (previously failures typically occurred after 8 – 10 days of operation) Field upgrade installed base February 2008
3785 (& 3782) Upgrades • Replace filtered purge orifice with an unfiltered orifice and a separate large area 43μm screen filter • Replace the small area 73μm screen upstream of the flow control orifice with a large area 43μm screen • Add a check for max’d total pump drive to the firmware. Indicate clog on status screen
WCPC Firmware Upgrade3782/5/6 Version 2.52 (1/17/08) • Water Trap Sensor: Added reservoir sensor code to allow sensing of water in the trap (sensor hardware is installed during annual maintenance and calibration) • Analog Output: added analog output of concentration (Log-scale 0 to 7V (0 = 1 particle, 1 = 10 particles, 2 = 100 particles, etc.) • Recycle Timing: Changed recycle timing to be based on 10 min rather than one hour • Clog Indicator: Added clog indicator on status display (“Check sheath damper orifice”) if sheath pump drive is at maximum • ‘Over Condition’: Changed ‘over’ condition on 3786 to be displayed on concentrations over 100,000 part/cm3
WCPC Continual Improvement • WCPC Checkout • - 100hr run on every new instrument • Recommended Operating Procedures • 3. Quick Guides • - ‘cheat sheets’ that highlight some critical procedures • - sent with all new instruments • 3781, 3785 & 3786 Troubleshooting guides • - problem description with decision tree and pictures • - will be added to manuals
