Some I thought of… • Colloquialism EG: “that’s swell” “I ain’t got the poop no more” • Taboo language Eg: “God damned” “Son of a bitch” • MetaphorEg “Jail bait” “Curley’s got yella-jackets in his drawers” • Similes “Like a terrier bringing his ball back to his master” “flopped like a fish” • Colours (Adjectives) Eg.“reddened lips” “the shadow in the valley was blue and soft” • Adverbs “he said woodenly, ‘If I was alone I could live so easy”, “Lennie removed his hat dutifully” • Repetition – find 2 examples • Personification – find 2 examples
