  1. What do you remember? List all the quadrilaterals that have: A) all sides congruent B) opposite sides congruent C) diagonals perpendicular D) diagonals congruent E) consecutive angles supplementary F) all angles are right angles G) diagonals bisect the opposite angles

  2. 6-6 Trapezoids and Kites Rigor: Correctly identify and use properties of trapezoids and kites Relevance: Design

  3. Trapezoids & Isosceles Trapezoids • Definition of a Trapezoid– a quadrilateral with exactly 1 pair of parallel sides • Definition of an Isosceles Trapezoid – a trapezoid with congruent legs

  4. Isosceles Trapezoid Theorems • Theorem– each pair of base angles of an isosceles trapezoid is congruent • Theorem– the diagonals of an isosceles trapezoid are congruent.

  5. Kites Definition– A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of consecutive sides congruent and no opposite sides congruent Theorem – The diagonals of a kite are ┴. Theorem – One diagonal of a kite is a line of symmetry and therefore bisects the kite.

  6. EX 1: Trapezoids a) Calculate the measure of each angle of the isosceles trapezoid. b) What is the length of each diagonal if QS =7x - 5, & RP =3x +11

  7. EX 2: For kite KLMN, calculate the measures of the numbered angles.

  8. EX 3: Constructing a Kite Kat is using a pattern to make a kite to fly outside. To finish the kite, she is putting a binding around the outer edge. What is the perimeter of the kite (round to the nearest hundredth)? If the binding is sold in 2yd packages, how many packages must she buy?

  9. Trapezoid Midsegment Theorem The midsegment of a trapezoid is the segment connecting the midpoints of the legs Theorem – The midsegment of a trapezoid is parallel to each base, and its length is ½ the sum of the lengths of the bases.

  10. EX 4: Calculate WX and AB.

  11. Summary of quadrilaterals(put this on the back of your toolkit)
