A couple of Friendly Reminders… • For quick questions, please email your counselor. Email is a great way to get answers about Letters of Rec., schedule concerns, teacher concerns, etc. • If you need more time, you may make an appointment with your counselor. Passes may be filled out before, after school, or during lunch • Please do not leave class to fill out a pass or ask to see your counselor. You will be asked to go back to class unless it is an emergency.

PSAT TEST • The date for the test on campus is Saturday, October 19that 7:40 am • Register through www.TotalResgistration.net/PSAT/030581. • Registration closes on September 18 • The cost is $25.00. • You must bring Photo/School ID
ASVAB Test • The test provides a world class, comprehensive career exploration and planning opportunity. • It helps you explore career interests and occupations based on your answers. • The ASVAB will be administered in the BCHS auditorium on Tuesday, Feburary11thduring periods 1-4. Report directly to auditorium that day. You will be responsible to make up missed work in your classes. • It is FREE and space is limited! • Sign up in the counseling office starting January 7th!

Individual ECAP Meeting • In the next few weeks, counselors will be calling Junior students down to go over your ECAP (Education, Career, Action Plan). • We will reviewing your post secondary plans and you will selectcourses for senior year. • In preparation for this meeting, we need you to start thinking about your post secondary goals and your plans to reach those goals.
Credits: Graduation Requirements • 22 Credits are required to graduate from BCHS • 4 credits of English Language Arts • 4 credits of Math • 3 credits of Lab Science (1 must be Biology) • .5 credit of Health & .5 credit of P.E. • 3 credits of Social Studies • 1 credit of CTE OR Fine Arts • 6 credits of Elective courses
Preparing for ECAP meeting with your counselor • Required Senior classes: • 1 credit English • 1 credit Math • .5 credit Government • .5 credit Economics • 1 elective credit • Please keep in mind that this is the minimum number of credits required; many seniors will need additional credits for a full day.
Senior Schedule Reminders:“I want a half day!” • Only those students who are on track with credits are eligible for a half day their senior year. • A request for a half day is NOT a guarantee. • Half day does not necessarily mean that you will have a morning-only schedule (morning senior classes fill up).
Individual ECAPS • Counselors will call down students for individual meeting • Please come at specified time on passes for individual ECAPS
Goal or Plan: What is the difference? • Post-Secondary Goal ~ Identify your long-term goal. • For example: Do you want to be a pilot? A teacher? A pediatrician? A welder? A police officer? A nurse? • Post-Secondary Plan ~ Identify a plan for how to reach your goal. • For example: After high school I will ______________ attend a 4-year university / go to community college / seek career training / join the military / join the workforce
Developing your Plan • Attend Community College with the intent to transfer to a 4-year university (after 2 years or earning an AA degree) • Attend Community College to earn a 2-year degree and/or career certification • Attend a 4-year university directly from BCHS (fall of 2018) • Enter the workforce directly from BCHS • Enlist in the military
