NTNU has recruited 3 Chair Professors and Identified 8 Research Chair Professors to lead academic research starting 2008 University Funding used for granting research promotion projects and fostering academic research was 83 million NT$ (2 M Euros) between 2006-2008 NTNU proceeds to support 0.1 Billion NT$ (2.2 M Euros) for granting research proposals with expectation to earn more national projects and financial resources from government and national agencies from 2009 to 2011. NTNU has established several new policies for R&D related subsidy supports and match-up grants to further promote international communications and performance with a sum of 56 million NT$(1.2 M Euros) between 2005-2007 and ever since. Based on the Internet and Web Quality Ranking for Universities worldwide announced by the Web Count Research Center in Spain in 2009, the ranking for NTNU is improved impressivelyfrom the 273rd to the 173rd. Its ranking in Asia was also increased from the 20th to the 17th. In terms of the number of webpage and the visibility of webpage, NTNU is ranked the second among all Taiwan universities. (Four indicators include Number of webpage、Visibility of webpage、Rich files、Scholars) These have clearly shown that NTNU is well recognized with solid and aggressive improvement in R&D in the past five years with delicate balance and integration of Science, Liberal Arts, and Educations.
