Preliminary Specific Purpose: • Who are they? They are 15 college students, the majority of whom range in age from 18-26. Three are over thirty; two are over forty. They are taking a required communication course. About 50 percent have younger brothers and/or sisters; 20 percent are the parents of young children. Preliminary Specific Purpose: • Why are they here? • They are in class because attendance is required. • They may be preoccupied with thoughts about their own presentations or about personal matters. updated falln2008 sgb
Preliminary Specific Purpose: • What do they know? • They have probably read or heard about the effects of television violence but may not be familiar with specific studies. • They are aware of the television rating system. updated falln2008 sgb
