Diction • The Diction used in this poem is very clear and accepting. It isn’t negative but it isn’t happy. The author states all the chores she has to finish before the days – “I’ve got” “mend” “mop” shop” “dress” press”
Images • The author includes many images which make it possible for the reader to visualize the hard work day of a dedicated woman -“clothes to mend” “chicken to fry” “shirts to press” “clean up this hut” “cotton to pick” – the author also includes images about the weather – “shine on me sunshine” “storm blow on me” “sun rain curving sky”
Details • The author includes details about her household chores and the things she must get done in just one day. The author also conveys relief in nature saying “rain on me, rain” “til I can rest again”
