Qatar World Cup2022 By: Usama Usman 5A
Introduction In TAP, our project was the systems we will/might have in 2022 for the World Cup. Sara and I chose “CONSTRUCTION” as our topic and this presentation is based on the research we did. ENJOY!
Construction Its Purpose? Why Needed? Construction is always crucial when you have to plan for a really important event, like the World Cup. There has to be enough space to build the stadiums, housing and all other needs.
consequences? The consequences of not getting the building done in time might be … • Qatar would get a very, very bad review the world over, • No tourism, and • People might not even want to buy our gas and oil.
How does it work? • You have to design the stadia (plural of stadium). • Then, you get your construction materials like concrete, glass and steel. • After that, you have to BUILD the stadia itself. • Finally, you have to put in the air conditioning and the final touches (paint, wiring, seating, etc).
Construction Material Albert Speer & partner GmbH designed the stadia (See “2022 Stadia Appearances” slide show). I emailed them to ask …Q - How much construction material it would take to make a stadium capable of holding 45,000 people? A - They replied … “Currently we can offer you the images and renderings of the stadiums of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Further information for the construction and material are not released yet. Please do not hesitate to contact us again.”
Building in the desert Q - How would they build in the desert as the ground isn’t stable? (Most of Qatar is a desert.)I found my answer on CR4 (architecture website). They can stabilize the sand by pounding steel beams into it with a pile driver and build on it.
Featuring New Stadia Video LusailIconic Stadium - circular stadium with a moat, connected to the park with six bridges. It will probably be finished in 2019. Gharafa Stadium - colouredribbons on the outside, stretched between metal girders.Shamal Stadium - shaped like the dhow (traditional Arabian boat)Doha Port Stadium - on the port (obviously!) and you can arrive by water taxi. Al-Khor Stadium - like a seashell.
Stadium capacities There will be 12 stadia in all and I found out how many people the NEW stadia are expected to hold.
Thank You Hope you enjoyed the show! Now for a quick presentation about what the stadium will look like: 2022SA
