Subject and Grade Level This Unit will be used in a 4th grade class. It is an interdisciplinary unit on the Rainforest that primarily addresses the social sciences, science, music, art, and language arts curricula.
Curriculum Framing Questions Essential Question:Can we make a difference? Unit Questions: Why do we care about the Rainforest? Content Questions: What is a Rainforest? What are the layers of the Rainforest? What types of Rainforests exist and where are they located? What plants are found in the Rainforest? How do plants affect the rain? How do the plants grow? What animals are found in the Rainforest? What animals are located in each layer of the Rainforest? How do animals and plants found in the Rainforest coexist? Do people live in the Rainforest? How many people live in the Rainforest? What are the customs and culture of Rainforest inhabitants? What natural resources can be found in the Rainforest? What kind of Rainforest products do we enjoy daily? How can we enjoy products from the Rainforest without destroying it?

Learning Objectives The students will: Be able to name different layers of the Rainforest. Be able to identify the different plants and animals that live in the Rainforest. Understand how the Rainforest ecosystem effects our planet.
