26. Tonight’s Speaker Rex Black “Agile Testing in the real world” Lots of organizations are adapting Agile. Some of these organizations are finding practical ways to integrate testing into Agile lifecycles. In this presentation, Rex will address challenges and opportunities associated with Agile, different ways of adapting Agile lifecycles and the testing within those lifecycles, an how Agile Differs from Traditional Lifecycles. We’ll examine tools and metrics for Agile projects. We’ll address whether Agile can be used for outsourced projects. We’ll look at different options for organizing test teams on Agile projects, and why only some of these options can work. Rex will offer his thoughts on Agile and quality, and what skills and personalities work best in Agile projects. In this free seminar, Rex will discuss these points and more, giving you a better shot at Agile testing success.

27. 1-Day Seminar – August 1st, 2013 Risk Based Testing By Rex Black (President, RBCS, Inc.) Risk is the possibility of a negative or undesirable outcome or event. Testing is concerned with two main types of risks: (1) Product or quality risks, which are problems that can potentially affect the quality of the product itself. (2) Project or planning risks, which are problems that can potentially affect overall project success. Not all risks are equal and there are a number of ways to assess the level of risk. 
 So, how can we identify risks, assess their level, implement appropriate tests and other controls, and report test results based on risk? This course will show attendees how to do so. We’ll look at quality risks and quality risk categories. We’ll talk about how to identify risk items and assess their level of risk. We’ll look at how risk based testing adapts to various software development lifecycle models, how project risks can affect testing, and metrics we can use during risk based testing. The course illustrates important concepts with examples, a case study, and realistic, hands-on exercises.
