Make notes about any questions you may have and submit them to the teacher for future class discussions.
Tips for IntegratingVESOL 2 & Workforce/Workplace Readiness • Some benchmarks just fit together well: VESOL 5.6 & 5.7 + Workforce/Workplace Readiness 3.6 (“Prepare a cover letter”/“Prepare a one-page résumé” + “Composing a résumé with a cover letter” ) • Some benchmarks are actually duplicated: VESOL 8.1 + Workforce/Workplace Readiness 6.12 (“Identify solutions to problems occurring in specific workplaces” + “Analyzing and solving workplace problems”) • After sorting through the benchmarks to find the ones that fit together and to find duplications, create handouts (teacher-made and other sources) that can be used in your classes.
Adaptability in Adult and Vocational Education • Added a Citizenship component to an ESOL 3 class • Ideal reading level to coordinate both LCP checklists • Increase LCP count for LHTEC
Activity • Students registered in ESOL 3 • 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. • 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. • Students registered in Citizenship • 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. • 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Evaluation • Students mastered both LCPs • School increased its LCP count
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BEST PRACTICES! Marta and Richard
