  5. Second Grade Behavior Plan • Every day the students will start on green. • The students will go up and down based on their behavior. • Students will track their behavior at the end of the day in their agendas. If they were on yellow , orange, or red, I will write a comment as well. • If students are on red, they might have to walk minutes at recess, write an apology letter, work independently rather than with the group, etc. If the child continues to have problems, his or her clip will go on my desk and the parents will receive a note, email, or phone call. • If students stay on green by the end of the day, they will receive one ticket. If they are on yellow, they will receive two tickets to put in the basket. At the end of the week, there will be a drawing for outstanding behavior! “TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT. DO THE RIGHT THING.”

  8. Homework/ Agenda • Homework Read with your child 15 min. nightly (Reading Log) Leveled Packet (Due every Friday) Occasionally math review tests and other activities might be sent home for extra practice before assessments. Please remember that homework is your child’s responsibility, not yours. • Agenda Students write homework assignments, reminders, and how their day went in their agenda daily. Please check the agenda each night and sign. Agendas should be brought back to school every day. This provides a good communication tool between the teacher and parent.

  9. Assessments • Your child will be assessed weekly on the skills that we practiced during the week. (Reading, Grammar, Word Study, and Math) • We will have NWEA testing three times a year. • We will have DIBELS and QPA/AQPA as on-going assessments. • Three times a year the students will take a Math Benchmark Assessment.

  10. Word Study • Lists will not be sent home. • There will be a word study pretest given at the beginning of the week. • Students that pass at 90 percent will then be able to do enrichment word study activities that follow the pattern. • Students that did not meet mastery will continue to work on the skill. (center-based) • All students will take an assessment on Friday that tests their ability to apply the word study pattern in all aspects of language arts.
