The (d) questions These questions ask you to give YOUR OPINION. • You must give 3 REASONS why you agree OR disagree. • You must give 3 REASONS why some people might disagree with YOUR opinion. You MUST include some religious beliefs/teachings in at least one of the sections to get fill marks. Remember to split up you arguments... one part must agree and the other must disagree.
The (d) questions How are they marked? • Its SIMPLES... These type of questions are worth 6 marks. These questions are split into TWO parts – (i) & (ii)... Each part is marked out of 3 – you get ONE mark for each point you make.
The (d) questions “All religious parents should make sure their children believe in God.”In your answer you should refer to at least one religion. Example: • Do you agree? Give reasons for your opinion. I disagree because I think everyone should make their own decisions when it comes to religion. It also goes against their basic human rights to have the freedom to choose their own religion. It is like brainwashing and would goes against the idea of free will. • (ii) Give reasons why some people may disagree with you. Some people may disagree with me because Christian parents want to raise their children as well as they can and teaching them about God makes their children morally good people. Christian parents also believe that it is their duty to raise their child to follow their religion and teach them about God. Also many religions people make promises during their wedding ceremonies to raise any children they have to follow their religion so it is important to do so. 1 mark given for ONE reason 2 marks given for ONE reason 3 marks given for ONE reason
The (d) questions • Have a go at marking... • Look at the following answers and give them a mark out of 6. • Remember you must mark each section out of 3 then add this up to get a total out of 6!
I agree because some Christians believe that sex is only for procreation (having a baby) and contraception stops a woman having one. Some people might disagree because some Christians think that sex is a gift from God to give pleasure to each other. • ‘’Christians should never use contraception.” In your answer you should refer to at least ONE religion. • Do you agree? (3 Marks) • Give reasons why some people may disagree with you. (3 Marks)
I agree because Roman Catholics believe that sex is for procreation only and contraception stops that process happening. I also agree because the Bible says that human beings should reproduce and if Christians use contraception that won’t happen. Some people might disagree with me because Christianity teaches that love is important and sex enables a couple to show their love without getting pregnant. Another reason why people might disagree is that the Bible doesn’t say anywhere that contraception is wrong so Christians should be able to use it. • ‘Christians should never use contraception’ In you answer you should refer to at least ONE religion. • Do you agree? (3 Marks) • Give reasons why some people may disagree with you. (3 Marks)
I agree because in the Bible it says that humans should “be fruitful and multiply”. This means having children and if Christians use contraception they are preventing children being born. I also agree because Roman Catholics don’t allow artificial contraception because it stops procreation taking place (making babies). They believe that the purpose of sex is to have children and contraception stops that. My final reason is that contraception can encourage people to be promiscuous (sleep around) and Christians believe this is wrong and that sex should only be done within marriage. Some people may disagree with me because they believe sex was created by God to give pleasure to a couple who loved each other. Using contraception lets them use that gift and not worry about getting pregnant. Contraception can also help protect a woman’s health because it stops sexually transmitted diseases. It is a loving thing to do to care for people like that and this is why some Christians like Protestants allow the use of contraception. A final reason is that the Bible doesn’t mention contraception at all; if Christians were not allowed to use it then wouldn’t the Bible say so? • ‘Christians should never use contraception’ In you answer you should refer to at least ONE religion. • Do you agree? (3 Marks) • Give reasons why some people may disagree with you. (3 Marks)
Yes I do Because they are not me • ‘Christians should never use contraception’ In you answer you should refer to at least ONE religion. • Do you agree? (3 Marks) • Give reasons why some people may disagree with you. (3 Marks) This gets you NOTHING!
