Faculty/Staff Campus Climate SurveySpring 2002 • Highlights • Over 35% response rate. • Respondents were generally representative of population of STU employees. • In the vast majority of cases, there were no statistically significant differences in the perceptions of STU faculty, staff and administrators in regards to the various items.
Positive Attributions • 97 % agree that they understand what is expected of them at their job. • 94% agree that they get a sense of personal satisfaction from performing their job. • 92 % of all respondents agree strongly or somewhat that the needs of students are important. • 85% agree that employees within a division try to work together. • 78% agree that they are recognized for contributions made to their departments. • 77% agree that they feel valued for the work they do at STU. • 73% agree that STU students are provided with quality educational programs.
Positive Attributions(continued) • 69% agree that faculty and staff are willing to put forth an effort beyond that is normally expected. • 66% agree that university policies are procedures are fairly and uniformly followed. • 61% agree that STU has a good reputation in the community. • 60% felt the quality of the faculty was excellent or good • 59% felt the effectiveness of University leadership was excellent or good • 67% felt that campus security was excellent or good
Negative attributions • 52% disagree that the campus organization promotes good communication and cooperation • 49% felt that the adequacy of STU’s physical resources were fair to poor. • 45% disagree that there is adequate formal recognition for achievement other than salary • 44% disagree that the morale for people who work at STU is high
