Compassion DEFINITIONS • Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it • a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering • Literally, suffering with another; a sensation of sorrow excited by the distress or misfortunes of another; pity; commiseration. • deep sympathy; pity

  6. How Do We Demonstrate Compassion In School? Christmas Parcels NEPAL Contributing to charity appeals - helping those less fortunate than ourselves How could we show more compassion? Become actively involved in fundraising and organisation of charity events

  8. By not joining in… ….when a group of your classmates are giving a pupil or teacher a hard time How could we show more compassion? by doing something to try and stop it!

  9. By supporting….. ..other pupils having difficulties in a class How could we show more compassion? Do something to get them more help e.g. tell teacher

  10. Teachers show compassion… …when they make allowances for behaviour/ homework etc. because of a pupil’s personal circumstances How could they show more compassion? By getting further advice on how to deal with certain situations involving pupils

  11. By including… ….pupils who appear to be on their own or isolated from others How could we show more compassion? Continuing to include them in your group of friends

  12. By listening…. …to a friend’s problems and letting them know you are there for them. How could we show more compassion? By finding out if there are other ways they can get support

  13. If we all show COMPASSION in OUR SCHOOL we will make lives better in OUR FUTURE
